책 소개

*Song of the Wind* documents the field research and collaborative work accumulated as the project of the same name travelled from Wando, South Korea, to the Philippines, Vietnam, Hsinchu in Taiwan, Jakarta in Indonesia, and the northern coast of Portugal between 2022 and 2026. From her situated position as a researcher of socially engaged art and a curator, Sunyoung Oh approaches the sea as a boundary and a route of movement, an ecological environment, and a site of labour. Tracing kelp farming, migrant labour in fisheries, sea-level rise and coastal erosion, urban development and transformations of waterfronts, and relationships between human and more-than-human life, she examines how the opportunities and risks of mobility—as well as value, cost, and responsibility—are unevenly distributed. The book does not present collaboration as a successfully completed collective endeavour. It also records the negotiations, conflicts, interruptions, and asymmetries that emerge between different people and places, asking what kinds of responsibility are required by making and living together. Moving across multiple seas and cities, the book explores where art and life, labour and ecology meet, and seeks possibilities for coexistence that do not erase difference.
