책 소개

This book is a compilation of statistical materials currently used in my graduate courses in the Department of English Language and Literature. Regardless of their specific subfield, students analyzing large volumes of experimental linguistic data must, willingly or otherwise, conduct statistical analysis. However, many graduate students in the humanities often lack a foundational background in statistics. Even when they take courses offered by statistics departments, they frequently find it difficult to apply those methods directly to linguistic data.

As a professor, I am not a professional statistician myself. Having acquired these statistical techniques through self-study for my own research, I recognize my limitations in delivering a formal statistics course. However, because I once stood exactly where my foundational-level students stand today, I wished to guide them along the path I carved out myself. It is my hope that this modest textbook will serve as a starting point, enabling them to eventually master advanced statistical knowledge far beyond my own. While the content herein is by no means an exhaustive or comprehensive theoretical treatise, I sincerely hope it provides the minimal stepping stone students need to analyze their experimental data independently.
