A Shift in Perspective: From “40 Days of Suffering” to “40 Days of Resurrection Faith”
In the Bible, the number forty is not merely a symbol of suffering, but a period of preparation for the beginning of a new chapter in history. The disciples fled when Jesus faced the cross because they were consumed with their own ambitions and hopes for political restoration. However, the forty days they spent with the risen Lord completely transformed their focus—from the kingdoms of this world to the Kingdom of God. Through this transformation, they became people who no longer feared death and were even willing to become martyrs.
Rediscovering Tradition: The Spirit of Reformation Beyond Non-Biblical Customs
Lent is closer to a Catholic tradition that developed through historical church councils than to a practice with a direct biblical basis.
